ARCAA Facility Officially Open

Sep 3rd, 2010 – Queensland State Government Treasurer, Hon Andrew Fraser MP officially opened the Australian Research Centre for Aerospace Automation (ARCAA).

Over 130 guests from the aviation industry, academia and Government joined the Treasurer in the launch of the $5.37M facility.

During the event, ARCAA researchers showcased some of the unique technologies, equipment and research being undertaken at the facility. Guests were also given the opportunity to view the ARCAA Airborne Systems Laboratory, the primary flight test aircraft. Also on display were the Insitu Pacific ScanEagle and QUT undergraduate student projects. Coinciding with the launch were announcements on results from recent flight testing of a vision-based midair collision avoidance system and a new research program with the CRC-SI and Ergon Energy, in the development of automated systems for the inspection of powerline infrastructure.
