| Bio | ||
| Pillar completed a bachelor degree in Aerospace Avionics Engineering at the Queensland University of Technology(QUT) in 2004, graduating with First Class Honours. During this time he was also twice the recipient of the Boeing award for top students in Avionics. In 2007, Pillar commenced his PhD in trajectory planning and guidance for Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle (UAV) forced landings. The development of a generic Forced Landing System for unmanned aircraft is currently a key research area under the joint collaboration of both QUT and the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). It is expected that such a system will greatly increase the reliability and operability of UAVs in civilian airspace. Through his research, Pillar has gained valuable insights as well as practical experience in the integration and operation of avionics and automated safety systems onboard UAVs. |
